Downloaderize wants Spot Downloader to be usable by everyone, including people who use assistive technologies.
Conformance target
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
Accessibility features
- Semantic HTML with landmarks, a logical heading structure and a “Skip to main content” link.
- Every function, including the downloader, menus and FAQs, works with a keyboard alone, with visible focus indicators.
- Form fields have visible labels; errors are announced to screen readers and linked to their fields.
- Download results and errors are announced through live regions.
- Text and interface colours meet WCAG AA contrast ratios in both light and dark mode.
- Pages respect your system’s dark-mode and reduced-motion preferences and reflow down to 320 px wide without loss of content.
- Touch targets are at least 24×24 CSS pixels (most are 44×44).
Known limitations
- Album covers in search results and song lists come from Spotify and are decorative (the song or album name is always shown as text next to them), so they have empty alt text, except the main cover of an opened item, which is described.
- Downloaded videos and photos keep whatever captions and descriptions their creators provided; we can’t add captions to third-party content.
How we test
We test with automated tools (axe-core and Lighthouse), keyboard-only navigation, and screen readers (NVDA with Firefox, VoiceOver with Safari) at common zoom levels.
